Job Purpose
The Project Accountant is responsible to ensure accurate and timely project financial reporting, as well as monitoring key controls to support strong project financial management.
Responsibilities:
Month End Tasks
- Prepare and record month end accrual and processing journal entries
- Analyze projects to calculate monthly revenue and post entries
- Reserved inventory analysis
- Deferred revenue analysis
- Work closely with finance and projects management teams on project analytics
Project Reporting
- Assist project managers on project analysis and budget management
- Work with project management on project close out reporting
- Review subcontractor reconciliations provided by Cost Controls department
- Compile data into reports for management
- Subcontractor Reconciliations
Other Tasks
- Support maintaining projects in accounting systems
- Support for Billings Coordinator
- Support for Construction Time Administration team
- Provide support to other Finance and Project Management members as needed
- Ad hoc reporting and analysis
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business an asset
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a Project Accountant role within a Construction or Manufacturing industry required.
- Very strong analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Previous experience working with accounting systems with strong MS Excel skills required.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external relationships.
Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
