The community members of Shackan or the Scw'exmx - People of the Creeks - is taken from the name of the Nicola River, Scw'ex, meaning creek. The Shackan Indian Band is one of five bands in the Nicola Valley who comprise the Scw'exmx. Their mission statement is to promote the development of a healthy lifestyle and self- sufficiency for Shackan community members while achieving positive, respectful, leadership to all members when administering services. Shackan’s services comprise of Administration, Education, Finance, Social Development, Emergency Services and Capital Infrastructure.
Position: Senior Financial Advisor

Job Summary: A Day in the life of our Senior Financial Advisor
Reporting to and under the support and supervision provided by the Band Administrator, the Senior Financial Officer is responsible for day-to-day management of the systems of the financial administration of Shackan including financial management, control, and reporting while maintaining all of Shackan's financial investments and assets. . They will ensure all decisions and actions meet the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures that govern Shackan including the Shackan Financial Administration Law and any other Laws enacted by the Shackan Council.
This individual will oversee the finance department including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other staff as directed by the Band Administrator to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. The right person will be a progressive accounting professional who is a key contributor to the change and growth of Shackan Indian Band. As the Senior Financial Officer, you will:
