Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Customs Broker Assistant who is fluent in Mandarin to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth movement of goods from China to Canada, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients. This position will be based in [Location] and will require strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of customs processes and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with customs clearance procedures for import and export shipments from China to Canada, both by air and ocean.
  • Work closely with customs brokers to ensure accurate and timely submission of customs documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, shipping agents, and other relevant parties to obtain required information and resolve any customs-related issues.
  • Verify and review shipping documents, invoices, and customs declarations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classifications, duty rates, and other trade-related requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including logistics, warehouse, and procurement, to coordinate and optimize import/export operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, concerns, and providing regular updates on shipment status.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in customs regulations, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in Mandarin (both spoken and written) is essential for effective communication with Chinese clients, shipping agents, and authorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in customs brokerage, import/export operations, or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements for shipments from China to Canada.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using customs brokerage software and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple shipments simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.50-$20.00 per hour
